Review Policy
Update (9/27/2011): I am currently not accepting any self-published books for review. While I do read self published books, most of which I adore, my inbox is currently overflowing with review requests – most of which I have to decline. I will hopefully reopen to review requests soon…so check back!
Thank you for taking the time to read my review policy.
I read because I enjoy it. I review the books I read because I know it helps readers and authors: readers get to discover new books, while authors are able to gain some promotion on their work. This isn’t work for me, its fun. On that note, I can’t promise that all of my reviews will be detailed breakdowns of the book. I prefer for readers to experience the book for themselves, after all that’s where the magic is in reading. I can promise that my reviews will be honest and timely. With each review I post I will include the book description*, page count, publisher, release date, and pre-order/buy links. If applicable, I will also include the book trailer in the post.
It’s very rare that I don’t finish a book. If I don’t, however, I will state it in my review (as I will review what I did read) and I will make sure to state why the book wasn’t for me, but also who may enjoy the book. I never want to bash an author or their work (or a publisher for that matter). I know there is a lot of hard work that goes into each story and I’d rather praise it instead of bashing it.
*I take the description directly from Goodreads.com, the jacket flap, or the publisher’s website.
YA Book Haven is a blog centering on Young Adult novels, but you may also see some ‘adult’ novels being reviewed on here too! It won’t be often, but every now and again I will have an adult novel to review and I’ll make sure to state it is an adult novel for the readers.
Genres that I prefer are:
- paranormal
- fantasy
- romance
- contemporary fiction
- science fiction
- mysteries/thrillers
The following are books in which I am not interested:
- nonfiction: autobiographies/biographies/memoirs
- titles with religious undertones
Please read the following:
By accepting a novel it does not guarantee that the novel will be read, or that I will post a review.
Novels that I request personally will have precedence over all other titles.
I am currently accepting books for review. I will accept self published books if they interest me (please e-mail me or use the contact form below).
Giveaways:
I am happy to host giveaways on YA Book Haven. I try to host a contest at least once a month. I usually provide the prizes (books I loved, ARCs I have multiple copies of, and so forth), but if you’d like to supply something for a giveaway I’d be more than happy to host it!
The contest policy has been updated as of August 2011 please make sure to check it out!
Blog Tours/Interviews:
As with giveaways, I’m more than happy to host a blog tour or an interview.
If you are interested in doing an author interview, I do request that a copy of your novel be sent with ample time to read before the questions need to be submitted.
How long will it take for you to review my book?
I have a reading schedule I adhere to. Since I have such a huge list of books in my to-be read/reviewed pile, I need to keep to a schedule. If I requested the book for review, that review will be posted ASAP. All other reviews are posted according to release date. I make sure reviews are posted at the latest a week before a books release.
Disclosure: Almost all of the books I receive for review are provided by the publisher or the author. I do not accept/receive monetary compensation for my reviews. I am a part of Amazon Associates. All of the Amazon links on my blog provide a very *small* profit when used.
